Mr. Weinberg was appointed to the Board of Directors for the Project on
Corporate Responsibility. He
retired from his position as Director of the UAW’s Special Projects and
Economic Analysis unit in 1974, but remained active in economic and labor matters. From 1973 to 1974, he worked for the
United Nations as a consultant to its Group of Eminent Persons to Study the
Impact of Multinational Corporations on Development and International
Relations. He also served as a
consultant to Rep. Phillip Burton of California in the late 1970s on
legislation for protecting loggers displaced by the expansion of Redwood
National Park. Weinberg died in
1985.
The
Weinberg papers contain correspondence, clippings, articles, reports, speeches,
and research material relating mostly to his service as Director of the
UAW’s Special Projects unit and his work on the UN’s study of
multinational corporations in 1973-74.
