The papers of Robert E. Carlson were placed in the Archives of Labor and Urban Affairs in July of 1976 by Mr. Carlson and were opened for research in July of 1990.

Robert E. Carlson was a summer employee at the Franklin Mill of the Bethlehem Steel Company in Johnstown, Pennsylvania in 1941. The papers of Mr. Carlson consist of announcements and flyers distributed by the Steel Workers Organizing Committee (S.W.O.C.) in the Johnstown plant in its effort to organize the Bethlehem steel workers in June of 1941. The collection also contains a few clippings related to the organizing efforts of the S.W.O.C.
