Scope & Contents
This addition to the papers of The Newspaper Guild consists
of correspondence, reports, minutes, financial records, press releases,
publications and other material relating to International Executive Board and
national staff business, local affairs, international organizing activities,
especially in Latin America, contract negotiations, and labor arbitration. Of particular interest are files
relating to the Chicago Hearst strike of 1939-40 and the Philadelphia strike of
1946-48 and those documenting trade union activity among foreign
journalists, including the involvement of the CIA in Latin American labor
organizing.
