UAW Local 25 first organized as Federal Local Union 18386 of the AFL in August, 1933 to negotiate with the management of General Motors Fisher Body and Chevrolet plants in St. Louis, Missouri. In October of 1935, the local received its charter as UAW Local 25, but did not win recognition by the corporation until the 1937 strike.
The papers of UAW Local 25 consist of Management-Shop Committee meeting minutes, correspondence, president's office files, grievance materials, and benefits information. Executive board, membership and miscellaneous meeting minutes from 1933-1939 are available on one reel of microfilm.
