The Office Worker

For a few of us, an office job was a way to make a living temporarily, until marriage or until we went back to school. But for most, office work was a lifetime career. And it wasn’t necessarily the jobs themselves that we wanted changed. For the most part, we liked our jobs. We liked the variety, the contact with people. We liked being at the hub of the company and knowing what was going on...We liked using our initiative, judgment, and diplomatic skills. We were proud of our work. What we didn’t like was the way we were treated and how little we were paid.
