During the latter half of the 19th and the early 20th century, Detroit was the center of stove production in the United States. The Michigan Stove Works was one of Detroit’s largest employers during this time, and became part of the world’s largest stove producer when it was joined with its rival, the Michigan Stove Company, in 1927.
