First elected to union office as secretary of United Auto Workers Local 230 in 1939, John Allard was elected as president of Local 230 in 1946, and also served in the International Union. The papers of Mr. Allard reflect his work with the UAW and, to a lesser degree, his involvement in community activities for retirees, most notably as a participant in the White House Conference on Aging.
