The UAW Veterans' Department was created in 1944 as a part of the War Policy Division under Joseph Velosky, becoming a separate department in 1946. The department was concerned with issues of veterans' seniority, reemployment, creation of regional and local veterans' committees, and state legislation for veterans. Its records reflect how they dealt with these concerns in particular to World War II and Korean veterans.
