The Bakery and Confectionery Workers International Union formed in 1969 from the union of
the Bakery and Confectionery Workers International Union of America (f. 1886) and the
American Bakery and Confectionery Workers’ International Union (f. 1957). Local 77 in Detroit
was organized and chartered in 1916 by immigrants from Poland under the official name PolishLocal No. 77 of the International Union of Bakers and Confectioners, Labor Federation of America. This collection documents official business of the union, its history, and its
membership mainly through contracts, memorabilia and meeting minutes.
